Convert From Islam Held In Mental Hospital

Persecution of Christians in Egypt: A convert from Islam to Christianity is being held against his will in a Cairo mental hospital, where supervising doctors have told him he must stay unless he recants Christianity and returns to Islam. Since his forced confinement, he reportedly has been beaten, whipped and given potentially fatal injections by hospital personnel.

Gaser Mohammed Mahmoud, 30, was committed to the El-Khanka Hospital for Mental and Neurological Health in early January by his adoptive parents, after they learned he had become a Christian two years earlier.

Just a few years ago who would have imagined that a Catholic Bishop would possibly be persecuted for speaking about one of the church's basic teachings? Bishop Frederick Henry of Calgary has sent out two pastoral letters repeating the church's teaching on homosexuality and as a result is facing complaints of human rights violations. Read more about this in Catholic World News.
